• Designer Spotlight: Knot Sisters

The summer heat is here and what could be better than an all new collection from local LA cool-girl label Knot Sisters? Created by long time friends Cheryl Brubaker and Jaime Reese, their label got it's name after years of being mistaken for sisters. Now, they design pieces that they would want to wear themselves -- if it's not something they feel confident about having in their own closets, it doesn't make the cut. Both ladies have backgrounds at some of the surf industries' top labels -- Quicksilver, Billabong, and Volcom -- so it's no wonder their designs have such an effortless vibe about them.

This season's "Be Easy, Baby" collection is no exception -- breezy florals, gorgeous maxis and easy to wear tees are perfect for LA's laid back atmosphere. Their designs mix both masculine and feminine aspects that are perfect for transitioning from cool Spring days to hot Autumn nights. The best part? All the pieces are perfect for mixing and matching so you'll never be with out an amazing outfit. If you're like us and can't get enough of Knot Sister's innovative east-meets-west-coast designs, check out the "Featured" section on our front page to shop our favorite looks!
  • Designer Spotlight: Callahan

Typically, you wouldn't think of wearing knit pieces in Spring and Summer, especially here in Los Angeles where we really only have 2 seasons -- hot and hotter. But local designer, Michelle Callahan, is the master of creating beautiful knit pieces that work year-round, even for us down here in our warmer climate. Having graduated with a degree in Apparel Design & Textiles, Michelle realized how underdeveloped the knitwear market was and decided to shake things up by creating her namesake label, Callahan.

Callahan pieces are inspired largely by LA's "cool-girl aesthetic" -- the designs are composed of unique and different yarns, but focus on basic, forward silhouettes. Effortless is a word that comes to mind -- both trendy and easy to wear, all at the same time.

For Callahan's most recent Spring '16 collection, Michelle used primarily lighter weight yarns, as opposed to the chunkier gauge that they world ordinarily use for fall. This way, the designs have an airy and breathable quality that makes them perfect for the transitioning seasons. And with every collection, they always include medium-weight designs, just in case we ever catch a breeze!

If you can't get enough of Callahan, like us, stop on over to the 'Featured' section of our home page and shop our favorite picks!! And, as always, don't forget to stop by our brick and mortar store in Silverlake if you want to see these knits in action!

  • Designer Spotlight: Charlotte Stone

    Charlotte Stone dillon sandals

This month’s designer spotlight is all about a girl’s real best friend – shoes! (Diamonds are a close second.) Here, in Los Angeles, we are always on the lookout for ultra comfy-yet-still-chic footwear, and Charlotte Stone’s designs are exactly that. Having grown up amongst interior and graphic designers, Charlotte’s minimalist-modern aesthetic literally shines through in her collections. Slides, easy to pull on boots, and mules are done up in an array of richly-hued and metallic leathers all with simple, elegant designs. Charlotte graduated from FIDM here in LA, having decided early on that she wanted to become a shoe designer. She later studied her craft at footwear factories in Italy, finally creating her namesake line about 2 years ago. She also co-designs equally phenomenal furniture with her husband under the name Pacific Wonderland Inc.

And lucky for you we’ve just restocked our shelves (and our feet!) with all new designs and all at 50% off their retail price, so it’s time to get shopping ‘cuz these babies will go fast!  Check out our top picks on the featured section on our homepage, or at our brick and mortar shop in Silverlake, CA!

  • Designer Spotlight: Black Orchid Denim

Here at The Runway Outlet, we take our jeans very seriously -- that's why this month we're featuring our favorite denim brand, Black Orchid, in our designer spotlight series!  Black Orchid, designed here in Los Angeles by denim master, Julien Jarmoune, continues to be one of the leading brands on the market and has been spotted on just about every celebrity under the sun. And for a good reason! When Jarmoune set out to create Black Orchid, he wanted to craft a truly perfect jean -- figure flattering on all sizes, expert attention to detail, and cut from the best possible fabric. And we can tell you from experience -- he's succeeded! Black Orchid's Fall '15 collection is particularly exceptional, featuring two of the most revolutionary styles yet: Liquify and Stay Black. Liquify skinnies, crafted from the softest Italian denim out there, never stretch out and continuously hug your shape, while Stay Black do just what their name suggest -- Stay Black...forever. Really. If you aren't already intrigued by that, Gigi Hadid, Olivia Palermo, Chiara Ferragni, and Kendall Jenner all call themselves fans of Jarmoune's designs. So what are you waiting for? Hop over to the featured section on our home page, or come on in and try them on for yourself and grab a pair of your new favorite jeans!
