Typically, you wouldn't think of wearing knit pieces in Spring and Summer, especially here in Los Angeles where we really only have 2 seasons -- hot and hotter. But local designer, Michelle Callahan, is the master of creating beautiful knit pieces that work year-round, even for us down here in our warmer climate. Having graduated with a degree in Apparel Design & Textiles, Michelle realized how underdeveloped the knitwear market was and decided to shake things up by creating her namesake label, Callahan.
Callahan pieces are inspired largely by LA's "cool-girl aesthetic" -- the designs are composed of unique and different yarns, but focus on basic, forward silhouettes. Effortless is a word that comes to mind -- both trendy and easy to wear, all at the same time.
For Callahan's most recent Spring '16 collection, Michelle used primarily lighter weight yarns, as opposed to the chunkier gauge that they world ordinarily use for fall. This way, the designs have an airy and breathable quality that makes them perfect for the transitioning seasons. And with every collection, they always include medium-weight designs, just in case we ever catch a breeze!
If you can't get enough of Callahan, like us, stop on over to the 'Featured' section of our home page and shop our favorite picks!! And, as always, don't forget to stop by our brick and mortar store in Silverlake if you want to see these knits in action!
